Outsourced Ad Production

Flexibility and cost reduction are often the reasons for considering moving ad production to external partners. And while the economic advantages can be obvious, outsourcing ad production can also introduces some scary scenarios.

In the following we will describe the most important features of ADPOINT and why they are essential to obtaining a rugged and flexible ad production network.

 

Central repository

The heart of ADPOINT is a central production database. This database keeps track of all production files in as many versions as needed. It also records all activities and changes applied to production files. This makes it easy to track ad materials in a single system. All production jobs are automatically assigned to be opened from and saved back to this central database. This means that all jobs are basically available through ADPOINT web browser based client no matter where the designer works from.

 

Native design docs points to servers

One of the flaws of outsourced production is that producers may be tempted to use assets that are available locally. Using i.e. a logo that is on a local server or indeed on the desktop of the producer computer would normally cause a production job to be dependent on that very computer. But with ADPOINT, local files are automatically copied to the central database. This means that the production job can be opened anywhere without broken links.

 

Integrated Asset management

Keeping track of the production assets is a major task in most production environments. What logos do we have for a specific customer? Which is the latest version of the product shot? When did we use the image last time? All these issues is part of everyday concerns in ad production. To keep an asset management system up to date is hard work. But with ADPOINT all assets are automatically assigned to production orders and customers. This means that producers are always in control of what assets belong to a customer, what assets are assigned to a certain order and when the assets was last used. Further to this, assets can be categorized for easy retrieval and automatic housekeeping rules can be set up to ensure the asset repository is always up to date.

Version management

ADPOINT automatically keeps track of all changes to production jobs. Previous versions can be (re-)activated and compared in order to highlight changes. All Proofing ADPOINT also includes complete web based proofing. Accessible from a simple link, advertisers can easily view and annotate and approve ads from the comfort of their computer, Pad or smartphone. All annotations are stored with the ad, making it a simple task for producers to work on a new version.

Reporting

ADPOINT features a comprehensive reporting module which enables production manager to pull reports and stats about the production. How much time did we spend on a specific ad? Or on a specific customer? Who has the most proofs? How many millimeters were produced by our partner in India last month? Where is capacity in surplus? All these reports can be generated by ADPOINT and results can even be exported to your favorite stat tool for further analysis.
